  • In 1920

    Janmabhoomi to Karmabhoomi

    Late Bapuji Shri. Premchand Bhikabhai Shah, as 1st generation of Shah family, migrated from Krakach, Gujarat. ‘Janmabhoomi’ (Birth Place) to the town of Akola, Maharashtra & made it ‘Karmabhoomi’ (Workplace/Livelihood Land).

  • In 1947

    Establisment M/s. National Novelty Stores

    In the year 1947, Shah family established M/s. National Novelty Stores.

    Later Dr. Nitilal P. Shah, the 2nd generation of Shah family transformed National Novelty Stores into M/s. National Medical Stores & thus ushered a new era of Pharmacy profession in Akola.

  • In 1980

    Foundation of Leben Laboratories

    3rd generation of Shah family - Mr. Bharat N. Shah (M. Pharm, DBM) founded Leben Laboratories as a Proprietorship Firm at Mumbai.

  • In 1981

    Marketing Nucleus

    On 1st January 1981, the marketing nucleus of Leben was formed at Shirpur.

  • In 1989

    M/s. Leben Laboratories became Leben Laboratories Pvt. Ltd.

    In the year 1989, the proprietorship firm Leben Laboratories became Leben Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. with the inauguration of the most modern plant at Akola. The plant was led by Bharat N. Shah as a Managing Director.

    The initial factory building of 6,000 sq. ft. was constructed in the year 1989 on Plot No.: L-4 (Facility - I) has expanded almost 10 times and is now approx. 5390.341 sq. ft. in the year 2023.

  • In 1993

    WHO-GMP Certification

    In the year 1993, Leben got its 1st WHO-GMP certification, which is then renewed uninterruptedly every year.

  • In 1997

    Started Exporting

    From the year 1997, Leben started to expand across the globe, with Sri Lanka as the first Exporting country. Today Leben is marketing its more than 75 brands in countries like Afghanistan, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Kenya, Laos, Malawi, Mauritius, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Seychelles, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Yemen & Zambia.

    ISO-9001:2015

    Leben also has the accreditation of ISO-9001:2015 since 2003, which is then renewed uninterruptedly every year.

  • In 2008

    National Award for “Outstanding Entrepreneurship”

    In the year 2008, Leben received “NATIONAL AWARD- 2008”, for “Outstanding Entrepreneurship” by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Govt. of India at the hands of Hon’ble Dr. Manmohan Singh, the then Prime Minister of India.

    4th Generation of Shah Family Joined

    In the year 2009, the 4th generation of Shah family – Mr. Parth B. Shah joined the family business. In 2017 he was inducted in the Board as Technical director.

  • In 2017

    Commenced Construction of Facility II

    In 2017, Leben in its untiring journey, at site Plot No. L-15 commenced the construction of independent building as Facility-II, occupying the area of about 38,022 sq. ft. a manufacturing plant of antibiotic Beta-Lactam Penicillin Drugs, which was inaugurated in 2018.

  • In 2019

    Started manufacturing of Beta-Lactam Penicillin products

    In 2019, manufacturing of Beta-Lactam Penicillin products on Technology Transfer, having Process Validation & Stability studies was commenced as per WHO-GMP guidelines.

  • In 2023

    Transformation of Leben Laboratories

    The manually operating machines of 1989 are now replaced in 2023 with the PLC based, human touch free, automatic machines.

    The team of 17 people of 1989 today has become a family of 400+ persons in 2023, managing all the operations.

    Commenced with just handful products, Leben today has 250+ formulations in its basket, each of standard quality.

    Believing in the Philosophy of “Growing Horizontally” rather than “Sky Scrapping Vertical Growth”, Leben has now begun the construction of its Facility-III at Plot. No. SZ-1 & SZ-2, having an area 46,400 Sq. Mtrs.
